Using aluminium for furniture opens up a world of opportunities. Aluminium can be anodized in different colours and this gives aluminium a finish that is unachievable with other kinds of materials. Additionally, aluminium is a lightweight material and weight is of course often a critical parameter e.g. in the design and production of furniture for ships and high-speed ferries.
However, aluminium is not easy to work with. There are many kinds of aluminium to choose from and they are not all suited for the same purposes. Experience and technical knowledge is therefore essential when using aluminium in the production of furniture.
At GBI (Gl. Bedsted industri A/S) we have the necessary experience to manufacture furniture frames and components in aluminium and we are always capable of accommodating our customers’ wishes.
We have e.g. manufactured chairs for cruise liners with a unique anodized surface and hardwearing lightweight chairs for the Norwegian navy.
