Design of a workpiece or a tool/fixture requires thorough knowledge of not only the shape and function of the workpiece, but also the numerous options in relation to materials, processes and methods offered by modern production.

All designs are a compromise between optimal quality, function/design and best economy.

Already at the design/construction stage, it is important to consider the potential production methods and material use etc. on the basis of the design and function of the workpiece. Small changes may have great impact on production costs.

GBI (Gl. Bedsted industri A/S) has long-term and wide experience in design activities for many lines of business. As for many of the workpieces we manufacture, we finalise the design on the basis of customers’ draft/design. Based on our knowledge of options within processes and materials, we balance our proposals in relation to parameters such as quality, appearance, function etc. so that, together with our customers, we will always find a good solution both as regards design/function and also in relation to production aspects.
