Stud welding

As the name indicates, stud welding is a special welding method developed exclusively for welding on studs and struts. (Struts are ”studs without heads” and are available in both threaded and unthreaded versions.)

Stud welding requires a special stud welding machine and special welding studs/struts.

With an ultrashort current impulse, a specially shaped point between the stud and the sheet material is melted, and in this way the stud is welded on.
Stud welding provides greater strength than stud punching and does not require prepunching of holes or other special shaping of the workpiece. Stud welding is used particularly in production, and, with the right equipment, it is a method just as fast as stud punching.

GBI (Gl. Bedsted industri A/S) can perform stud welding up to M8 in steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
